Over 47 Million Tourists Visited Spain Till Now This Year

Good news about Spain Tourism!!! Official statistics have shown that Spain has acknowledged more than 47 million tourists till now this year, which represents an increase of 1.2 percent as compared to the same period last year.

The Ministry of Tourism said these figures show improvement seen by the tourism sector in the country after a severe setback due to the global economic crisis that led to a significant decline in the number of tourists during 2008 and 2009. Dutch tourists topped the list during the month of October representing 33.6 percent of the total tourists, followed by the Nordic countries, accounting for 28 percent, and Italy with 23 percent of the total, which offset the decline in traditional markets like the United Kingdom, France and Germany:

The statement added that Catalonia, which attracted more than one million tourists during the month of October, is still the favorite destination for tourists, followed by the Canary and Balearic Islands, Andalusia and Madrid. Seven million tourists visited the country last August, an increase of four percent comparing with August 2009, which was biggest increase in this month since 2006.
