Tourism Statistics Show A Rise in Spain Holidays Bookings

The new figures published by the Spanish government indicate the signs of recovery from recession by Spanish tourism. The stats revealed that seven million tourists visited Spain that month, which is a 4% rise in tourist numbers. The results show that holidays in Spain are becoming more popular among tourists.

The figures also disclose that August was marked as the fourth consecutive month of growth for the tourism industry in Spain. This is despite the last year proving to be a very difficult year for travelers and holiday companies, with the volcanic ash cloud and the more recent European air strikes causing disturbance to flights and holiday plans.

The number of British tourists visiting Spain rose by 0.3% which improved Spain’s reputation as a prime holiday destination and brought it in top three ranking in a recent survey of popular autumn holiday destinations.

Spanish holidays in recently have been a popular choice for many travelers, due to the great weather, great food and friendly locals. So after a disappointing holiday season in 2009, both tourists and the Spanish travel industry could be on course for a much more successful holiday season next year.
